U.S.S. Valorous Series - Episode 4 Captain’s Log, Stardate: 59682.5
Deep Space 9 Engineering Team reports completion of repairs to the U.S.S. Valorous to be at 75%. Repairs to Life Support and Bio-Neural Circuitry complete. Warp systems will require at least 5 more days to repair along with an additional 2 days for the completion of the main propulsion systems. All U.S.S. Valorous crew members are ordered to report back to the ship to assist in the final repairs.
Shore leave is suspended due to Starfleet Intelligence’s recent discovery of a small force of Tal’Shiar operatives secretly stationed on Bajor. It is suspected that Commander Voras is among and leading them. Starfleet Tactical Unit to be deployed immediately. The team is to report to DS9 main conference room for debriefing from Major Kira.
(Ensign Latha Taban is recalled from the U.S.S. Achilles. Ensigns T’Lak and Lunias Ra Suvant, based on their experience and exemplary performance evaluations aboard Deep Space 9, have been chosen to join the Tactical Unit. They and the rest of the team proceed to the briefing room.)
Orders are to neutralize all Tal’Shiar operatives and capture Commander Voras. The Commander is NOT to be killed and MUST be delivered to Starfleet Intelligence officers stationed on DS9.
(Unable to transport due to high levels of omicron particles in the atmosphere, the Runabout is forced to land on Bajor’s surface. The runabout Experiences engine failure on its way down from a combination of omicron particles and atmospheric shearing. With fast reaction skills, Ensign Thalorn assumes manual pilot control and safely lands the runabout.
The team Arrives at the south end of compound, 200 meters away. Lt. V’Gorneth detects 3 high energy output devices (holographic emitters) triangulated in the area with 30 photonic entities scattered throughout the compound. He also detects 3 life signs at the north end of the compound. As the team approaches the area, they begin to notice distinct mirrored characteristics of their surroundings in front of them. As Lt. V’Gorneth passes through the reflective barrier, he disappears. Lt. V’Gorneth decides to shut down one of the compound’s cloaking generators (also triangulated) reveiling not only himself, but new surroundings and new sensor readings. Proceeding to the next cloaking generator, the team discovers a sentry unit patrolling the area that appear to be Romulan Tal’Shiar agents. The team attempts to tag the sentries with the Transporter Tag Gun and find the tags go through holographic imagery. The team then enters combat.
As the battle commences, the team finds that only photonic charges and using Thalorn’s tricorder to emit a tetrion pulse are effective on the holograms. Ensign Latha Taban locates the holo-generator and destroys it with a Level 16 compression rifle sniper shot. After the rest of the photonic entities disappear from the area, the team find the compound, surround the building and enter through both doors (one melted), and both holes in the building. Ensign latha, being caught by surprise, dodges in time to avoid complete disintegration and only looses half of his left forearm. Discovering that the compound’s auto destruct sequence has been activated, the team moves into action defeating the two Tal’Shiar operatives, capturing Commander Voras, retrieving the viral container, and fractured data from the computer core of the compound.
The Runabout meets up with the team, and proceeds to DS9. Upon docking, Starfleet Intelligence meets the team and confiscates all of the Tal’Shiar operatives and materials from the mission.
Lt. Kyros makes inquiries into the intentions of Starfleet Intelligence and is brushed off. He then solicits the help of Doctor Bashir who preaches the practices of Starfleet and a Doctor. After a long discussion, Doctor Bashir’s interest is peaked. There might be something there worth looking into.
The team then proceeds to Quark’s for a drink to unwind.)
