U.S.S. Valorous Series - Episode 6 Captain's Log, Stardate: 59816.1
The destruction of the small Shinzonian Fleet has raised tension in the quadrant even greater than before. Reports are constantly coming in of minor terrorist attacks on random Federation and Romulan settlements throughout the quadrant. The Federation is tired of waiting for the Syndicate to attack again, and has retrieved intelligence that the focus of attacks has largely been centered on dilithium colonies. In addition, a few unidentified vessels have been tracked traveling in and out of a Class J Nebula. Further investigations revealed levels of Deuterium in the nebula slowly decreasing.
Class J Nebula - Dark Nebula - contains ionized gas which can contain a warp core explosion
Deuterium - heavy hydrogen - primary fuel used in matter-antimatter reactions in conjunction with Dilithium crystals
Our orders are to investigate and shut down any potential terrorist activity being conducted in the area. Starfleet Intelligence has transmitted the coordinates and we are awaiting the Tactical Unit to settle any affairs before we depart.
The Romulan Scout has been commandeered by Starfleet Intelligence. Lt. Suvant will be compensated with a Type 6 shuttlecraft stripped of its Federation markings (not equipped with replicator). It is currently docked at DS9.
The Tactical Unit proceeds to the designated coordinates under cloak. As they approach the nebula, a slight miscalculation in navigation allows the ship to brush the edge of the nebula with the cloaking device causing three ships from the Shinzonian Syndicate to investigate the breach of their security sensors. A quick scan of the nebula detects a major complex surrounded by multiple smaller complexes. Station functions unknown with the exception of previous knowledge related to Deuterium harvesting. There is also a fleet of 50 miscellaneous ships ranging from Klingon, Romulan, and Reman within the nebula. Tactical status unknown.
Tensions increase with the approach of the three vessels. Through a joint effort, the ships initiate a tacion pulse to briefly reveal the USS Valorous and open fire on their position. The team decides to split up, launching the Delta Flyer class vessel for added support. The ships engage in highly detailed combat maneuvers before reinforcements from the enemy arrive. As the USS Valorous begins it’s retreat, velocity is modified based on the pursuers. Starfleet reinforcements are dispatched and arrive as the Valorous starts its second retreat leaving the pursuers to face the better matched Starfleet force.
The USS Valorous and team proceed back to DS9 to report what they have learned and receive further instruction on how they will proceed.
