U.S.S. Valorous Series - Episode 8 Captain’s Log, Stardate: 59905.2
Team orders: Our orders are to capture one of the enemy vessels, and gain entry to the facilities in the nebula to plant the plasma charges. The USS Valorous will be at the rendezvous point of the fleet. Once the sabotage is complete, the team must leave the nebula and signal the fleet on the provided secure frequency.
The stolen Bird of Prey and the U.S.S. Valorous, as an escort, are en route to the Shinzonian complexes in the nebula. Half way there, the U.S.S. Valorous turns back to Rendezvous with the assembled fleet standing by.
Upon approach of the nebula, the team finds one Romulan warbird and one Klingon Bird of Prey on patrol on the outer border of the nebula. After successfully falsifying their identity and code transmission, the team proceeds inside the nebula. Once inside the nebula, the complexes are revealed. One large main complex surrounded by 6 smaller complexes, and 2 dry dock ship yards. Independent disruptor canons and photon cannons hover throughout the nebula. After a careful scan, the team discovers 50 active vessels in the area, and 850 inactive combinations of scout, light, and heavy cruisers of varying species: Romulan, Reman, and Klingon. Further scans reveal what will undoubtedly be their greatest threat - one inactive Reman Scimitar and one Klingon Negh’Var class vessel that is Active, and stationed at the Main Complex.
The team docks at Substation 2 and begins devising their plan to infiltrate the stations. It is decided that T’Lak will target Substation 3, Suvant will take 2, Latha will take 5, Kyros will take 1 and 6, V’Gorneth will take Dry Docks 1 and 2, and Thalorn will target the Main Complex.
T’Lak proceeds to Substation 3 where he makes his way to the main reactor to plant his plasma charge. He successfully convinces all who inquire of his intentions in the area, except one. The remainder is quickly knocked out and hidden from plain view. The primary charge is set.
V’Gorneth hijacks a worker bee and attempts to pilot it to the Dry Dock Main Reactor. Deciding to pilot manually, he makes a slight miscalculation and lodges the worker bee into one of the lower pylons. By means of an emergency transport, V’Gorneth manages to stow away for a brief period while the accident is being investigated. After the smoke clears, the nearly vacant pylons give him the ability to plant his plasma charges on both Dry Docks without incident. Upon considering piloting the worker bee again, he determines it best to gauge the coordinates of the next location and travel there via auto-pilot.
Meanwhile, Suvant begins his run on station 4, opening with brilliant psyonic work on the lift officer, making him forget the floor he was traveling too and persuading the officer to go to the floor Suvant wants to go too. Suvant approaches the room that the station resources identify as his secondary target. Standing outside of the room and with minimal visibility, the doors slide open and he tossed 3 stun grenades into the room. Underestimating the station’s security, he inadvertently trips the weapon discharge alarms. He then quickly proceeds into the room and impersonates one of the stunned victims. When security gets to the room with a medical officer, they begin reviving crew members to find out what happened. Suvant is given a reviving hypospray and successfully acts as if it does not phase an already conscious patient. One crew member identifies Suvant as the person who stunned the room. Acting like a Klingon, he spits out a derogatory Klingon comment and attacks him for question his honor. After the commotion dies down, Suvant places his charge and sneaks out returning to the ship.
Thalorn infiltrates the main complex and proceeds to deck four. He decides to fake an Andorian Flu and heads to the station’s medical facility. He then persuades the medical assistant to see him in private giving reasons of racial privacy. The doors close, and Thalorn breaks the neck of the medical assistant, but not before he can let out a brief, but loud sound of distress. The assistant, dead on the floor, Thalorn induces vomiting as the security team comes rushing in. Unable to convince the guards that the assistant’s death was an accident, Thalorn is forced to defend himself. He fires a disruptor at one of the guards and vaporizes him. Weapon discharge alarms are set off once more and deciding that the quiet method will no longer be effective with moments to react, he throws five photon grenades further into the room and makes for the door. Thalorn underestimates the intensity of the explosion that occurs in that room causing a large section of the stations hull to destabilize and decompress the room. All contained within a matter of seconds, Thalorn attempts to grab the door frame to avoid being sucked out into space, but looses his grip. In the meantime, the Bird of Prey initiates an emergency beam-out after detecting the explosion and finding that their crew mate is strangely still alive. Beam out occurs, but not before the emergency force fields activate severing Thalorn’s arm and experiencing third-degree burn over the left side of his body.
Kyros springs to action with his med kit after beam-in completes. With limited resources available to him on the Bird of Prey, he manages to stabilize Thalorn from his seizing and multiple injuries. After a limited time in stasis, Kyros revives Thalorn and reprimands him for his breach of protocol for this mission and reminds him that it was supposed to be quiet. Based on the new situation, restructuring of the plan seems to be in order and Kyros takes command of the Bird of Prey to lead the initiative from there.
The rest of the plasma charge placement on substations and the main complex’s secondary target are a success with relatively light incidents. V’Gorneth completes his placement of charges on both of the dry dock primary targets. Latha by way of covertly moving through service tubes, and quietly neutralizing guards along the way, places his charges on substations 4 and 5. During his run, Latha begins to suspect that enemy forces may be alerted to their presence due to the ease of his operation.
By this time, all stations go into security lock down, suspending all travel and access to stations. V’Gorneth pilots the worker bee to substation 2 to pick up T’Lak. After a brief zero-g journey, T’Lak comes aboard the worker bee, and they plot a course for the Bird of Prey.
The team begins to design a new plan to infiltrate Substations 1 and 6, when suddenly; they are hailed by enemy vessels and informed that they will be board. This then confirms Latha’s suspicions.
